Chai Tea oats
A comforting bank holiday breakfast bowl that takes me back to my roots - chocolate protein oats cooked in Indian Chai tea.This sweet but sweetener free moreish bowl takes me back to many different trips to Punjab India to visit family -Where a large majority of the time is spent, sitting around all day on manja laughing, chatting and catching up whilst drinking cup after cup of chai tea. -
The bowl itself comes to just under 430 cals and based on the below measurements provides you with 35g of protein, 28g of carbs and 20g of fat. Go give it a try - I think this is my new favourite oats combination
Ingredients
Oats 30-40g
Whey protein 30g
Cacao powder 5g
Tea bag
Cardamon pods
Black clove
Nut butter 20g
Chia Seeds 10g
Pistachios 5g
Method
Add a mug of water to a pan followed by 2 cloves and 3-5 cardamon pods then cook on medium heat for 3-5 mins. Mind to crush your pods before adding them to the water (this will help them release their unique flavour & infuse with the water)
After a few mins throw in your tea bag and allow to brew before adding 1/4 of a mug of almond milk.
In a separate pan mix 30g of whey protein, 5g of cacao powder, 35g of oats, then pour over your tea and cook on a medium heat for a few mins. Stirring occasionally.
Once cooked add your toppings - I focused on good fats here so went for 20g of nut butter, 10g of chia and 5g of chopped pistachios.
